About
Space Invaders is a 1978 fixed shooter arcade game by Taito in which the player defeats descending waves of aliens with a horizontally moving laser cannon. pivaders is a Space Invaders clone written in Python and Pygame for the Raspberry Pi, originally created as a roughly 300-line implementation for Linux User & Developer magazine, with a follow-up version that added animation and sound.
How it differs from the original
It uses custom, separately credited artwork and sound effects from OpenGameArt and freesound.org contributors rather than any original Space Invaders assets.
History
It was created by Russell Barnes for Linux User & Developer magazine issue 136, with a follow-up in issue 137 adding animation and sound.
