About

Pokémon Gold and Silver are 1999 Game Boy Color role-playing games by Game Freak and Nintendo, the second generation of the core Pokémon series. PokeTraveler is a free-roaming walking simulator set in the world of Pokémon Gold and Silver, letting players explore the map without battling or catching Pokémon. It's still in progress, built to be edited via JSON files in its asset folder, with a GUI editor planned but not yet implemented.

How it differs from the original

Unlike the original role-playing game, there's no Pokémon catching or battling — it's purely a walking/exploration experience, and it's an original implementation that doesn't require any original Pokémon game assets.

Getting started

Build and run the project from the command line (build, then launch the resulting executable); the game world can currently only be customized by editing JSON files directly in the asset folder.

Known limitations

  • development: Project is still in progress.
