About

Raptor: Call of the Shadows is a 1994 MS-DOS vertically scrolling shooter developed by Cygnus Studios and published by Apogee Software, released in episodes with the first, "Bravo Sector," distributed as shareware. This project is a modern engine built from a reverse-engineered codebase of Raptor: Call of the Shadows, with release builds for Windows, macOS, and Android. It requires the player to supply the original game's shareware or full-version asset files (version 1.2 or later — earlier versions aren't compatible), with controls and MIDI/soundfont audio configured through a settings file, plus a separate setup utility on desktop platforms.

Getting started

Download a release build for Windows, macOS, or Android, then copy the required original asset files (from the shareware or full version 1.2 or later) into the install directory or the platform's data folder. Controls, MIDI/soundfont audio, and other options can be configured through the game's settings file, with a dedicated setup utility available for desktop builds.

Requires original assets. Requires the original assets (GLB files) from Raptor Call Of The Shadows shareware or full version 1.2 or higher.

The original Raptor: Call of the Shadows creator, Scott Host, has separately been developing a modernized version called Raptor Remixed, unrelated to this reverse-engineered recreation.
