About
Another World (released in North America as Out of This World) is a 1991 cinematic platform action-adventure game designed by Éric Chahi and published by Delphine Software, following scientist Lester after a lab accident strands him on a hostile alien world. rawgl is a re-implementation of Another World's original game engine, supporting the Amiga, Atari ST, DOS, 3DO, and Windows 3.1 versions plus the 15th and 20th Anniversary Edition data files, with configurable original/software/OpenGL rendering, an EGA palette mode, original or remastered audio, and adjustable difficulty. It requires the original game's data files to run and is no longer actively maintained.
How it differs from the original
Adds selectable rendering modes (the original software renderer or an OpenGL-based one), a switchable original/remastered audio mode, and adjustable fullscreen/aspect-ratio display options not present in any single original release, while still depending on the original data files to run.
Getting started
Point rawgl at a folder containing data files from any supported original release (Amiga, Atari ST, DOS, 3DO, Windows 3.1, or the 15th/20th Anniversary Editions), then control Lester with the arrow keys, using Enter or Space to run and shoot. A code-entry hotkey lets you jump straight to a specific point in the game, and language, renderer, and audio options can all be set at launch.
