HaltedUnplayableSega CD

About

Shining Force CD is a 1994 tactical role-playing game by Sonic! Software Planning for the Sega CD, itself a remake of the Game Gear's Shining Force Gaiden games, and now considered one of the best Sega CD titles. SFCDDISASM is a disassembly of Shining Force CD aimed at documenting the game's code and data through commented assembly and an accompanying wiki (iso map, ram map, data formats, algorithms), with tools to reassemble it back into a bit-perfect copy of the original ISO.

Getting started

Provide the original US ISO of the game (2048-byte sectors); a split tool breaks it into individual data files, which can be edited before a build tool reassembles everything back into a playable ISO. Editing the code itself requires 68k assembly skills.

Requires original assets. Requires the original US ISO file of Shining Force CD to extract non-disassembled data chunks.

Additional notes

Status
The disassembly isn't complete yet; some sections need better formatting before they can be safely modified without side effects.
