About
Sonic the Hedgehog is a 1991 platform game developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega for the Sega Genesis, in which the player controls Sonic as he races through levels collecting rings to stop Doctor Robotnik. This is a decompilation of the 2005 Java ME (mobile) port of Sonic the Hedgehog, split into a Part 1 (the first three zones, created by iFone, at 240x320 resolution using the original game's graphics) and a Part 2 (the latter three zones, created by Glu, at 208x208). The decompilation currently doesn't build and remains obfuscated.
How it differs from the original
As a decompilation of a 2005 J2ME mobile port rather than the Genesis original, it reflects the mobile adaptation's different screen resolutions and its split into two separately-built parts by different studios (iFone and Glu).
Getting started
The decompilation is currently unbuildable, so modding is still done the old way — by opening the original JAR file as an archive and editing its MIDI music and PNG image files directly.
Known limitations
- development: Decompilation is currently unbuildable and obfuscated.
Additional notes
- Localization
