About
Asteroids is Atari's 1979 multidirectional space shooter where players destroy asteroids and flying saucers while avoiding collisions, with the field growing more crowded over time. Omega Race is a 1981 vector-graphics shoot-'em-up by Midway, its only arcade release to use vector graphics. StarMines: The Next Generation is a web-based space shooter inspired by classics like Asteroids and Omega Race, rebuilt in HTML5 and Scala.js as a reboot of the earlier Java-based StarMines. It is playable directly in the browser, uses sprites pre-rendered from 3D models, and posts high scores to an online leaderboard.
