SunHP games

This is a collection of tributes to multiple classic games — including Arkanoid (Taito, 1986), Dr. Mario (Nintendo, 1990), F-Zero (Nintendo, 1990), The Legend of Zelda, Lode Runner (Broderbund, 1983), Micro Machines (Codemasters, 1991), Pong (Atari, 1972), and Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo, 1985) — reimplemented individually as separate HP calculator games. SunHP games is a personal collection of games written in Saturn assembly language for HP48/49/50 graphic calculators between 1995 and 1998, including titles like MarioHP, ZeldaHP, TennisHP, ArkanoidLite, DrMario, WarioHP, and F-ZeroHP, several with grayscale graphics and fast scrolling. The games can be run today via HP calculator emulators such as Emu48 or x48 (desktop or smartphone), or the author's own browser-based jsEmu48 emulator.

The games are packaged as individual downloadable calculator programs; to play, install one on real HP48/49/50 hardware or run it through an HP calculator emulator such as Emu48 or x48, or via the author's own browser-based jsEmu48 emulator.

History

The games were originally written between 1995 and 1998, inspired by the fast Game Boy-like graphics possible on the HP48 despite its 4-level grayscale display; the author also wrote an ebook on Saturn assembly programming for the platform.
