About
This project remakes SuperTux, an open-source platformer whose format was itself inspired by Super Mario Bros., Nintendo's 1985 NES platformer directed by Shigeru Miyamoto. SuperTux Classic is a full remake of SuperTux's Milestone 1 release (versions 0.1.0-0.1.4), rebuilt from the ground up in the Godot engine (v3.5.2), with enhanced graphics, sound, music, and gameplay while keeping the classic platformer design. It's open source under the GNU GPL, and its remastered art and music build on the original SuperTux team's work.
How it differs from the original
As a remaster of an early SuperTux release rather than the current game, it uses upgraded, remastered sprites, music, and sound built on top of the original SuperTux Media assets, with enhanced gameplay compared to the Milestone 1 source it remakes.
Getting started
Stable releases are available on GitHub or itch.io; controls default to Space to jump, Shift for action, arrow keys to move, and Escape or Enter to pause, all changeable in the options menu. Custom levels, textures, sounds, and enemy/powerup types can be created by opening the project's source in the Godot Editor.
