About
Advance Wars is a turn-based strategy game developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance, in which the nations Orange Star and Blue Moon wage a continent-spanning war using different commanding officers and unit types. Tanks of Freedom II is an open-source turn-based strategy game built with Godot Engine 4.2+, featuring isometric voxel art, hot-seat and online multiplayer for up to four armies, a built-in map editor, and four campaigns following Prince Tybalt across four fictional nations. It's a sequel to the original open-source Tanks of Freedom, and is also sold on Steam while remaining open-source.
How it differs from the original
Compared to its predecessor Tanks of Freedom, this sequel adds new unit types with unique abilities, multiple playable heroes, four dedicated campaigns, and a wider set of biomes including forests, deserts, tropical islands, and snow-covered mountains.
Getting started
The game can be built from source using Godot Engine 4.2 or newer by downloading the sources and importing the project, or played via the official builds distributed on itch.io and Steam. The built-in map editor lets players design and share their own scenarios online.
