About

Tomb Raider is a 1996 action-adventure game developed by Core Design and published by Eidos Interactive, the debut entry in the series, following archaeologist Lara Croft as she searches multi-room levels for the Scion of Atlantis while fighting enemies and solving puzzles. Tomb Engine (TEN) is an open-source custom level engine aiming to remove limits and fix bugs from the classic Tomb Raider games (parts 1-5), used together with the companion Tomb Editor tool. It supports Lua scripting, many objects carried over from the original series, high framerate rendering with antialiasing/mipmapping/SSAO, full object skinning, diagonal geometry, and uncapped map sizes, and needs no original game assets to build and test levels.

How it differs from the original

Rather than replaying the original campaigns, Tomb Engine is used with the companion Tomb Editor to build and run entirely new custom levels, and requires no assets from the original games.

Getting started

Compile with Visual Studio (having also installed the companion Tomb Editor), then build a level in Tomb Editor and run it in Tomb Engine.
