Umineko When They Cry is a Japanese dōjin visual novel series by 07th Expansion, first debuting at Comiket 72 in August 2007, following eighteen people trapped on a secluded island amid a string of mysterious murders they must attribute to a human culprit or something supernatural. ONScripter-RU is a visual novel engine built specifically to power the Umineko Project's fan port of Umineko no Naku Koro ni from the PlayStation 3, running on Linux, macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android. It requires the original PS3 release's assets to work, contains numerous project-specific hacks, and — per its own README — lacks API documentation and 'may not be suitable for your needs' as a general-purpose VN engine.
