About
Vib-Ribbon is a 1999 rhythm video game developed by NanaOn-Sha and released by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation, notable for never being released for PlayStation in North America until a 2014 PlayStation 3 re-release. Vib-Ribbon Minus is a 2D remake of Vib-Ribbon written in Python with pygame, following the character Chibri as they jump over obstacles to the beat. It supports custom levels and includes advanced 4-key rhythm-timing mechanics similar to Stepmania.
How it differs from the original
Unlike the original PlayStation game, this remake uses its own soundtrack by Separation from Reality rather than the original's music, and runs on Windows and macOS in Python rather than on PlayStation hardware.
Getting started
Custom levels can be created following the project's documented level-creation guide. Controller support isn't built in yet, but the antimicro tool can be used as a temporary workaround for gamepad input.
Known limitations
- input: Controller support is not yet implemented; workaround is to use antimicro.
