About
This is the official source code release of VVVVVV, Terry Cavanagh's 2010 indie puzzle-platformer, covering the desktop version; the game remains commercially available for purchase, but the source is free to compile and use personally. Notable updates over the years include a 2.0 C++ rewrite by Simon Roth and a 2.2 SDL2/PhysicsFS/Steamworks port by Ethan Lee, plus localisations from multiple translation teams; it compiles for Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS, and Android and is under active development.
Getting started
The desktop version's source can be compiled directly for personal use; anyone wanting to distribute a compiled build should check the project's license terms first, since the game is still sold commercially.
History
VVVVVV's source code was released as open source by Terry Cavanagh in 2020, ten years after the game's original 2010 release.
