About
Tempest is a 1981 tube shooter arcade game developed and published by Atari and designed by Dave Theurer, in which the player controls a claw-shaped blaster that snaps between lanes on a three-dimensional tube-like surface, destroying enemies and obstacles as they emerge from the center. wbta is an Android port and expansion of wbt, a Java clone/homage of the arcade game Tempest. It's playable and reproduces many of the original's screens, though not identically, and adds a limit of one superzapper use per round. It's built with Android Studio.
How it differs from the original
Unlike the original arcade Tempest, wbta limits the superzapper special weapon to one use per round, and its screens are similar to but not identical to the arcade original.
Getting started
On Android, gameplay uses a circular touch motion on the game board to steer the crawler, plus separate fire and zap buttons.
History
wbta was ported to Android, and expanded, from the earlier wbt Java implementation of the same Tempest clone/homage.
