Achtung, die Kurve! (also known as Curve Fever) is a freeware multiplayer snake-like game for two to eight players, where each player's trail grows behind them and the last one to avoid hitting a wall or a trail wins; it has spawned several popular remakes. Zatacka X is a modern, free remake of Achtung, die Kurve! that adds special weapons, updated graphics, sound effects, and AI-controlled opponents on top of all the original game's features. It's available as a package for several Linux distributions and other platforms (including a Nintendo Switch homebrew port), or buildable from source with SDL 1.2, SDL_image, SDL_ttf, and SDL_mixer.
How it differs from the original
It adds special weapons, updated graphics and sound effects, and AI-controlled opponents that the original freeware game didn't have.
Getting started
Pre-built packages are available for Arch Linux, Debian, openSUSE, AROS, MorphOS, Open Pandora, OpenDingux, and a homebrew Nintendo Switch port; alternatively it can be compiled from source with the standard configure/make/make install sequence.
