About
This is the official GPL-licensed source code release of Arx Fatalis, published by Arkane Studios on January 14, 2011, including the full engine source (the Athena, DANAE, EERIE, HERMES, Mercury, and MINOS modules) with Visual Studio 2008 project files. It compiles on Windows and requires a legitimate commercial installation of Arx Fatalis to supply the game's assets.
Getting started
To run it, you need a legal copy of Arx Fatalis for its game assets, since the compiled output has to be placed into (or alongside) an existing Arx installation folder. It's built using the provided Visual Studio 2008 solution and project files.
History
Arkane Studios released this source code publicly on January 14, 2011, years after the game's original commercial release.
Additional notes
- License
- The release is GPL-licensed but explicitly excludes certain bundled third-party code (PKZIP/Implode, EAX 2.0, the JPEG library, and zlib headers), which remain under their own separate licenses.
