Fatal Frame: 2 Open Source Clones Compared
Himuro is a decompilation project aiming to produce a byte-matching source decompilation of the PS2 game across its US, EU, and JP releases, tracking progress per region rather than already being a playable port; the eventual goal is to use that decompilation to port the game to modern hardware. MikuPan, by contrast, is already an in-progress native PC port that builds for Windows and Linux and can produce an Android APK, and has reportedly been built and run on Apple Silicon macOS by contributors — though macOS isn't officially supported since the maintainers have no Apple hardware to test on themselves. Both require files extracted from a legally owned copy of the original PS2 disc to run.
