Fatal Frame (released as Project Zero in Europe and Zero in Japan) is a 2001 survival horror game developed by Tecmo for the PlayStation 2, following Miku Hinasaki as she explores the haunted Himuro Mansion searching for her missing brother while fighting ghosts with a mystical camera. Himuro is a decompilation project aiming to produce a matching source decompilation of Fatal Frame across its US, EU, and JP PlayStation 2 releases, with an eventual goal of porting the game to modern hardware. It includes no original game assets — the executable must be extracted from a legally owned copy of the game — and progress toward a full decompilation is tracked live per region.
Getting started
Building it requires a Linux system, Python 3.8 or later, and a PS2-specific compiler toolchain, along with your own copy of the original game disc (US, EU, or JP release) to extract the executable the project decompiles against.
