About

Thimbleweed Park is a commercial adventure game. engge is an open source reimplementation of the engine used by the commercial adventure game Thimbleweed Park, built in C++ on a custom SDL2-based framework (ngf) with a bundled, modified build of the Squirrel scripting language and spdlog for logging. It doesn't include any of Thimbleweed Park's original content — players must own the commercial game and copy its two core data archive files into the project directory to run it. It was playable and reportedly completable, though still had open issues, before the developer discontinued it in favor of a rewritten successor, engge2.

How it differs from the original

Only the engine is reimplemented — the project requires the player to supply the two original data archives from a legitimately owned copy of Thimbleweed Park rather than including any of that content itself.

Getting started

Download the prebuilt binaries for Windows, Linux, or macOS from the project's releases page, then copy the two core data archive files from your own copy of Thimbleweed Park into the same folder before launching it.

History

The project is no longer supported; its developer moved on to a rewritten successor project called engge2 after this one.

Requires original assets. Requires Thimbleweed Park game files: ThimbleweedPark.ggpack1 and ThimbleweedPark.ggpack2.
