About
Hematite is a simple Minecraft-like world viewer/client written in Rust using the Piston game engine. It can open real Minecraft world saves compatible with the game's 1.8.8 save format, for personal, non-distributable use.
How it differs from the original
It only reads existing Minecraft world saves rather than including its own map or game content, and the author warns that opening a world with Hematite may corrupt it, so only a copy of a save should be used.
Getting started
Create a 1.8.8 profile in the official Minecraft Launcher to download that version, copy (not move) a world save into Hematite's directory, and run it from the command line, passing the world folder's path as an argument.
Known limitations
- compatibility: Opening a world may corrupt it; only use with copies of your personal saves.
