About
Shadow Warrior (1997) is a first-person shooter developed by 3D Realms and published by GT Interactive, following ninja protagonist Lo Wang; it was followed by two expansions and later a rebooted trilogy from other developers. JFSW is a source port of the original 1997 Shadow Warrior built on the author's own port of Ken Silverman's Build engine, first released in 2005. It runs on Windows, Linux, BSD, and macOS, with optional OpenGL 2.x/3.x/ES2 acceleration, and has been tested on x86, x86_64, PowerPC, and ARM hardware.
How it differs from the original
The port adds optional OpenGL-accelerated rendering and a GTK+-based launcher on top of the original software-rendered engine, but still requires game data files from an original release of Shadow Warrior to run.
Getting started
Running the game requires supplying data files from an original commercial release of Shadow Warrior; the project's website documents which releases are compatible. Multiplayer is supported, but the author cautions against using it over untrusted networks.
