Heroes of Jin Yong, first published in 1996, is a series of wuxia role-playing games based on the novels of Jin Yong. kys-promise ("Heroes of Jin Yong: Prequel") is a remake built mostly on top of the kys-pascal codebase, with an added visual "beautification" pass and extra worldbuilding/settings content credited to other contributors. It compiles with either Lazarus or Delphi, tested against Delphi's Community Edition 12, and targets Windows and Android.
How it differs from the original
As a prequel-themed mod of Heroes of Jin Yong, it layers new storyline and setting content, plus visual polish, on top of an existing Pascal remake of the original game rather than reworking it from scratch — the author notes they aren't very familiar with the underlying data structures they inherited, so further changes are unlikely.
Getting started
Building it from source requires either the Lazarus IDE or Delphi, with Delphi's Community Edition 12 confirmed to work.
