About

Pong is a 1972 arcade sports game created by Allan Alcorn and released by Atari as one of the earliest commercially successful video games. LedPong is a hardware clone of Pong for the Arduino UNO R4 WiFi, displaying the ball and paddles on the board's LED Matrix from the Arduino Plug&Make kit, with a buzzer for sound effects and background LED effects from an optional secondary Modulino Pixels module.

How it differs from the original

Instead of a video display, the ball and paddles are rendered on an LED matrix, and paddles are controlled with rotary encoders (Modulino) rather than the original's dial controllers, with an added mute button and optional background lighting effects.

Getting started

Playing it requires assembling the hardware — an Arduino UNO R4 WiFi, the Plug&Make kit, and a secondary Modulino encoder (a secondary Modulino Pixels module is optional) — installing the Modulino, Scheduler, and Arduino LED Matrix libraries through the Arduino IDE, and uploading the sketch; paddles are then controlled with the rotary encoders.

Additional notes

Customization
Ball speed, the score needed to win, and LED brightness can all be tuned by editing constants in the code.
