About

Pong is Atari's 1972 arcade sports game, created by Allan Alcorn as a training exercise assigned by Atari co-founder Nolan Bushnell. multi-pong is a work-in-progress networked multiplayer take on Pong, written with SFML and using UDP for networking. Its development log shows four players moving around a shared map with a ball, with all positions calculated on a server and broadcast to the clients, later reworked to play like an actual game of Pong. It targets Windows and Linux, and development has halted.

Getting started

SFML must be installed first (on Debian/Ubuntu it is available from the package manager; on Windows it has to be installed manually from the SFML website). On Linux, build scripts are provided to compile the game and then launch a server and one or more clients, with an optional release mode and a script for making a deployable build.
