Lode Runner is a 1983 puzzle-platform game developed by Doug Smith and published by Broderbund, with gameplay similar to 1980's Space Panic; it was one of the first games to ship with a built-in level editor. Lode Runner - Total Recall is a browser-based (JavaScript/CreateJS) compilation gathering five classic Lode Runner rulesets and level packs — Classic Lode Runner, Professional Lode Runner, Revenge of Lode Runner, Lode Runner Fan Book, and Championship Lode Runner — across four modes: Challenge, Training, Edit, and Demo. It offers two selectable visual themes (Apple II and Commodore 64 tile sets) and two keyboard-repeat behaviors emulating either the original Apple II keyboard or the NES port's input handling.
Getting started
It's playable directly in a browser via the project's hosted online demo. To run it locally on Windows instead, serve the extracted files with a simple local web server and open the game's page in a browser — though changing the local server's port will reset saved progress and custom levels, since browser storage is tied to the URL used.
