About
Wolfenstein 3D is a 1992 first-person shooter by id Software in which the player, as spy William "B.J." Blazkowicz, escapes the Nazi prison Castle Wolfenstein and carries out missions against the Nazis using a knife and a variety of guns. MacWolfSDL is a modern source port of the Macintosh version of Wolfenstein 3D, rebuilt on SDL3 for Windows, Linux, and macOS. It preserves compatibility with Third Encounter scenario files and supports loading additional custom scenarios, including packs distributed via the Macintosh Garden and Dermuda archives.
How it differs from the original
Because it's a source port rather than new assets, playing requires supplying the original Macintosh Wolfenstein 3D binary and Levels folder from a legitimate copy of the game (obtainable via archive.org); the port adds gamepad support with remappable controls and can load extra fan-made scenario packs beyond the built-in Third Encounter content.
Getting started
The original Mac binary and Levels folder need to be placed alongside the executable (or in platform-specific data folders on Windows/macOS/Linux); additional custom scenarios can be loaded from the in-game menu or dropped into the Levels folder.
