About
Minecraft is Mojang Studios' sandbox building game, first released as an early-access alpha in 2009 and formally released in November 2011, since ported to numerous platforms. Manic Digger is a 3D voxel building game in the style of Minecraft, supporting both singleplayer and multiplayer with a large default world size (9984x9984x128 blocks), custom texture packs, and a server-side modding API where mods can be written in C# or interpreted JavaScript. It's written in a custom language called "C-with-diacritic" that transcompiles to Java, C#, JavaScript, ActionScript, Perl, and D.
How it differs from the original
It includes a built-in "War Mod" game mode that turns it into a fast-paced first-person shooter, alongside its Creative mode (unlimited blocks) and Survival mode; Survival mode is explicitly noted as still in development, without any hostile or friendly mobs implemented yet.
Getting started
Downloadable directly from the GitHub releases page. A public server list, forum, and wiki are linked from the project for finding or joining multiplayer servers.
Known limitations
- gameplay: Survival mode is still in development and does not yet include friendly or hostile mobs.
