Blood is a 1997 first-person shooter developed by Monolith Productions using the Build engine. The project also covers other Build games, including Duke Nukem 3D (1996), PowerSlave/Exhumed (1996) and Redneck Rampage (1997). NBlood is a set of reverse-engineered ports of Build engine games using EDuke32 engine technology: NBlood for Blood, PCExhumed for the PC version of Exhumed/PowerSlave, and Rednukem for games derived from the Duke Nukem 3D codebase (Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition, Redneck Rampage and Rides Again, Duke Nukem 64, NAM/NAPALM and World War II GI). It is actively developed.
How it differs from the original
CD soundtracks can be supplied as FLAC or OGG files instead of MIDI music, and in PCExhumed those tracks also provide the King Ramses narration. Demo playback does not work yet in PCExhumed.
Getting started
The original game data is required: if Blood or PowerSlave is installed from Steam or GOG, no setup is needed; otherwise the listed data files are copied from the original game into the port's folder. On Linux, the Cryptic Passage expansion is launched with a separate ini parameter, and cutscenes need the movie folder from the original CD (or a mounted image of the GOG version).
Additional notes
- Settings
- NBlood now stores settings in nblood_cvars.cfg instead of settings.cfg, so older settings files need renaming.
- Settings
- PCExhumed has no full settings menu yet; mouse inversion and FOV (60 to 140) are changed by editing its settings file.
