About

Prince of Persia is a 1989 cinematic platform game designed and implemented by Jordan Mechner and published by Broderbund for the Apple II, in which players navigate dungeons to defeat the Grand Vizier Jaffar and save an imprisoned princess. This is an HTML5/JavaScript reimplementation of the MS-DOS version of Prince of Persia, playable directly in the browser at princejs.com or via GitHub Pages, with support for desktop, mobile, and even Apple Watch access. It builds on an earlier fork (PrinceJS) and credits Jordan Mechner's original Apple II source release.

How it differs from the original

It supports custom, community-made levels converted from the Apoplexy level editor's XML format, including several third-party fan level packs sourced from popot.org, beyond the original's stock levels.

Getting started

It's playable directly in a browser at princejs.com with keyboard, mouse, touch, or game controller support, can be added to a mobile home screen as a fullscreen app, or run locally after installing Node.js.

Additional notes

Trivia
The game can also be launched on an Apple Watch by sending yourself a link or asking Siri to open princejs.com.
