About

Prince of Persia (1989) and its sequel Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame (1993) are Jordan Mechner-designed cinematic platform games originally released by Broderbund for MS-DOS and other platforms. Princed Resources is a command-line tool for extracting, importing, and modifying the DAT resource files (bitmaps, palettes, and other assets) used by Prince of Persia and Prince of Persia 2, supporting both DAT format versions, with a win32 build and an XML-based resource index.

Getting started

It's a command-line utility: run it with export or import flags to pull bitmaps and palettes out of a Prince of Persia DAT file or write them back in, with options for compression level and batch processing across whole directories of DAT files.

Requires original assets. Tool requires Prince of Persia DAT files (version 1 and 2) to access and modify.
