About
River Raid is a 1982 Activision shoot 'em up for the Atari 2600 in which the player pilots a fighter jet along a river, destroying tankers, helicopters, fuel depots, and bridges without running out of fuel. Ruby-Raid is a Ruby game (using the Chingu gem) in which the player controls Rubee, a young rail locomotive who destroys enemies representing rival programming languages like XML and Java by throwing rail pieces; per the project's own TODO list, core features such as maps, additional enemies, and music were still unimplemented.
How it differs from the original
Unlike the original's fighter jet and river setting, Ruby-Raid casts the player as a locomotive battling enemies themed after rival programming languages, and each stage is meant to teach a Ruby programming tip.
Getting started
Install the Chingu gem for Ruby, then run the game window script directly from the project directory to start it.

- The project's own TODO list shows substantial unfinished work, including the map, enemies, menu states, and music.
