About

Pong is a 1972 Atari arcade sports game created by Allan Alcorn, whose concept was based on an electronic ping-pong game included with the Magnavox Odyssey console. SDL Pong is a C++/SDL2 Pong clone offering single-player, local two-player, and LAN/internet multiplayer (via port forwarding), built by its developer to learn C++ and CMake.

How it differs from the original

Adds a single-player mode and online LAN multiplayer beyond the original's local two-player-only arcade format.

Getting started

A prebuilt Windows release is available from the project's Releases page, or it can be built from source with CMake using the SDL2, SDL2_image, and SDL2_net libraries. For online play, the host and client each edit their own configuration file to set the IP address and port to connect through.

History

The developer built the game mainly to learn C++ and CMake, calling it a good way to achieve that goal.
