About
Space Station 13 (SS13) is a top-down, tile-based multiplayer action role-playing game running on the freeware BYOND engine, originally released in 2003. Space Station 14 is a remake of SS13 built on RobustToolbox, the developers' own homegrown C# engine, and structured as a separate content pack loaded by the client/server so people can host or create content without forking the engine itself. It's a round-based multiplayer roleplaying game about a space station shift gone wrong, currently in Early Access on Steam and playable on Windows, Linux, and macOS.
How it differs from the original
It rebuilds SS13 on a custom C# engine (RobustToolbox) rather than the original's BYOND engine, and is structured around a content-pack system so community-run servers can heavily modify or replace game content.
Getting started
Players can request playtest access on Steam and get automatically accepted, or download a standalone build from the project's website; building from source means cloning the repository and running the included setup script before compiling with .NET.
