About
Space Station 13 (SS13) is a top-down, tile-based multiplayer action role-playing game running on the freeware BYOND engine, originally released in 2003. Space Station 3D is an open-source revival of *beep's original SS3D tech demo, which attempted to add a third dimension to Space Station 13. It's currently in a pre-alpha state with minimal content, systems, or interactions implemented; the latest official build is tested on Windows only, and the full project source must be built in Unity yourself.
How it differs from the original
As a 3D reimagining, it aims to give SS13's top-down 2D gameplay an actual third dimension, but it is still pre-alpha and does not yet reproduce most of SS13's systems or content.
Getting started
Either download the latest official release build, tested on Windows, or download the full project source and build it yourself in Unity; the project is still pre-alpha, so there isn't much playable content yet.
History
The project began as a revival of *beep's original SS3D demo, an earlier attempt to add a 3D dimension to Space Station 13.
Known limitations
- development: Project is in pre-alpha phase with minimal content and systems.
