This repository preserves the original 3DO source code for Star Control 2, the 1994 3DO port developed by Crystal Dynamics of the 1992 MS-DOS game. The archive is reasonably complete in terms of source code but has little or no media assets, and some binary files may be corrupted due to an earlier, imperfect Mac-to-Windows conversion; it is unclear whether this is the exact retail build or an earlier or later version.
History
The well-known 2002 open-source release ("The Ur-Quan Masters") was based on a modified, incomplete version of the 3DO code that was missing 3DO-specific portions. In May 2024, this more complete original 3DO source was located in a contributor's old backups and released with permission from the IP holders.

- The 2002 source release was licensed GPL-2.0-or-later for code and CC-BY-NC-SA-2.5 for game content; an uncorrupted variant of this newly found archive may still exist in another contributor's untouched tape backups, which have not yet been checked.
