About
Super Smash Bros. is Nintendo's platform-fighter series, where the goal is knocking opponents off a stage rather than depleting a health bar. Super Tilt Bro is a demake of the Super Smash Bros. formula built to run on original Nintendo Entertainment System hardware, distributed as a physical cartridge with a built-in Wi-Fi chip for online multiplayer. It's under active, ongoing development — recent updates per the project's own changelog have focused on netcode resilience (packet-loss recovery, frame-accurate ping) and per-character balance tuning.
How it differs from the original
Unlike a typical fan-made demake that only targets emulators, Super Tilt Bro is built to run on unmodified NES hardware and adds NES-era-impossible online play via a Wi-Fi-equipped cartridge.
Getting started
Playable on real NES hardware via a purchasable cartridge (linked from the project's itch page); online matches are coordinated through the project's Discord for finding opponents.
Known limitations
- compatibility: Requires RAINBOW mapper support; standard version without networking (tilt_no_network_unrom) works in any emulator.
