About

Lemmings is a 1991 puzzle and strategy game developed by DMA Design and published by Psygnosis for the Amiga, later ported to many platforms; it was created by Russell Kay, Mike Dailly, and David Jones after an animation Dailly made while experimenting with Deluxe Paint. SuperLemminiToo is a personal fork of SuperLemmini (itself a fork of Lemmini), a Java-based Lemmings engine. It restores several features the author wanted, reads the same INI settings as SuperLemmini, and is compiled against Java 1.8 (Java 15 or higher recommended).

How it differs from the original

Compared to SuperLemmini, it restores "Timed Bombers" placement precision the author considers intentional in original Lemmings levels, adds Windows-95-style visual sound-effect graphics, replaces the text status bar with SNES-style icons plus a new fourth icon for lemmings still needed, reorders and animates the skill icon bar to match the Lemmings for Windows 95 layout, and makes "all levels unlocked" a normal toggle rather than a secret cheat code.

Getting started

Extract the program into its own folder alongside an existing SuperLemmini install and it will read in your existing settings. Toggles for disabling the scroll wheel, disabling frame stepping, and showing icon labels are available in the Options menu.

History

This project builds on Volker Oth's original Lemmini and Ryan Sakowski's SuperLemmini, adding features the author wanted that weren't on SuperLemmini's development timeline, drawing on more than twenty years of combined work by those two developers.

Additional notes

Known issue
Resource extraction from the original Lemmings 95 files must be done via SuperLemmini first (not SuperLemminiToo), since Java 15 reportedly produces different PNG output than Java 1.8.
