Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
About
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is a 2000 action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64, reusing many assets and character models from Ocarina of Time (1998) due to its short development time. This is a work-in-progress decompilation of Majora's Mask that aims to reconstruct the original N64 source purely from analysis of the released game, not from any leaked source code; contributors who have ever accessed leaked Nintendo 64 SDK or Zelda source material are explicitly barred from participating. It currently targets only the NTSC-US 1.0 version and does not produce, and will not produce, a PC port.
Getting started
Building it from a legally owned copy of the US 1.0 ROM reconstructs a byte-identical Majora's Mask ROM that runs in an N64 emulator or on original hardware — it doesn't add new content of its own.
Known limitations
- compatibility: Some parts of the ROM may not be shiftable yet, making modifications difficult.
Additional notes
- Contribution policy
- Contributors must never have accessed any leaked N64 SDK or Zelda source code, to keep the decompilation legally clean.
