About
Total Annihilation is a 1997 science-fiction real-time strategy game released for Windows and Mac OS by Cavedog Entertainment, followed by two expansion packs in 1998 and a medieval-themed spin-off, Total Annihilation: Kingdoms, in 1999. Spring (formerly TASpring) is an open-source real-time strategy game engine for Windows, Linux, and macOS, descended from Total Annihilation, supporting single- and multiplayer matches (online and local) with a large degree of additional control and customizability over typical RTS gameplay.
Getting started
Players use a third-party lobby client to host or join single- or multiplayer Spring matches; the engine itself can be installed via a platform installer or built from source with cmake and make.
