About
Descent is a 1995 first-person shooter from Parallax Software, notable for its six-degrees-of-freedom flight and true 3D environments, in which a mercenary pilot destroys mine reactors infected by an alien computer virus. three-descent is a browser-based port of Descent built with the Three.js WebGL library, playable directly at its GitHub Pages site. It ships with the shareware Episode 1 data; playing the full game requires supplying the equivalent data files from a registered copy of Descent. The port's own code is MIT-licensed, aside from a bundled OPL3 sound-chip emulator under LGPL.
How it differs from the original
Unlike the original DOS release, this is a browser-playable Three.js reimplementation, and only the shareware first episode is bundled by default — the full campaign requires the player's own original game data files.
Getting started
Play directly in a browser at the project's GitHub Pages site; the bundled shareware data lets you play Episode 1 immediately, and replacing the included data files with your own copy from a registered version of Descent unlocks the full game.
