About
The Legend of Zelda is a video game series created by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka, primarily developed and published by Nintendo, with some installments outsourced to Flagship, Grezzo, and Tantalus Media. Zelda Classic is a game and quest-editing tool for building custom Legend of Zelda-style quests, including its own zquest level editor. This repository holds the source code for developers and platform porters; most players instead use the prebuilt Windows, macOS, or Debian Linux binaries from the project homepage rather than compiling it themselves.
Getting started
Most players don't need to build from source — prebuilt binaries for Windows, macOS, and Debian Linux are available from the project homepage, along with a repository of community-made quests and the bundled zquest editor for building your own.
History
This version was released in 2019 and is considered essentially archival; further releases are considered unlikely, though porting to new platforms and bugfixes are still welcomed.
Known limitations
- platform: Only compiles for 32-bit architecture, requiring 32-bit versions of all external libraries.
