About
The Legend of Zelda is a video game series created by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka, primarily developed and published by Nintendo, with some installments outsourced to Flagship, Grezzo, and Tantalus Media. ZQuest Classic is a free, open-source engine for building games similar to the original NES Zelda, letting players choose from hundreds of existing community quests or build their own. It runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, plus an experimental web version that also works on mobile devices.
How it differs from the original
Unlike the original NES Zelda, it ships with its own engine and assets rather than reusing anything from the original game, and includes a full quest editor for building entirely custom games.
Getting started
Download a prebuilt release for Windows, macOS, or Linux, or try the experimental web build, which also runs on mobile. Hundreds of community-made quests are available to play, or you can build your own with the included editor.
